FCGSL Fall Ball
FCGSL offers Fall Ball for all age divisions. The Fall League is instructional,
see Fall Ball League Rules below:
Fall League Rules
In the Fall League, no standings are maintained and no trophies are awarded.
Keeping score is optional for each team. And it is not necessary to call in
scores. Teams are encouraged to play unlimited substitution rules so that all
players are placed in the batting order. The allotted three hour time slot may
be used for two 1 1/2 hour games, or for a full seven inning game and a shortened
second game, or for any other combination that both managers can agree on. Teams
may play with as few as seven players and/or may borrow players from another
team(s) to obtain an adequate number of players to prevent a forfeit.
New for the 1998 Fall Softball Season
In recent years an increase in school-based teams participating in the Fairfax
County Girls Softball League fall season has created an opportunity for FCGSL
to administrate a new division for the 1998 Fall Season. An attempt will be
made to schedule the Inter-Scholastic Division with as few game conflicts with
the FCGSL 16&U and 18&U Divisions as possible.
The emphasis of the Inter-Scholastic League is participation, camaraderie and
skill development. Click here for Scholastic Division Rules.
Unlimited Roster • Unlimited Substitutions • No League Standings • No League Champion • Scorebooks Optional
Any parent(s), former player, supportor or softball fan from your high school
may form and enter a team in the Inter-Scholastic League. League fee is
$240.00 payable to FCGSL. Uniforms are optional, but teams are encouraged
to wear the same color shirt.
League Games will be scheduled on Weekens as well as Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday from 6:45 - 8:45. Weekend play will be three-hour time blocks,
Weeknight play is two-hour time slots. In most cases, a team will be scheduled
only one time block per week. (Either weekend or weeknight.)
Depending on the number of teams entering the league, an 8-14 game schedule
(4-7 time blocks) will be played. Umpires and games balls will be provided.
Teams are encouraged to invite all potential Varsity and Junior Varsity
candidates to participate.
The competitive level should be "scrimmage" mentality. All players should
play, mulitple pitchers should be used, players should get an opportunity to play multiple positions.
High School coaching staffs are prohibited from participation in this league by VHSL Rules.
HS Coaches may attend games as spectators but shall not enter dugouts or playing areas.
